My name is Jim Murray and I live in Schenectady, New York with my wife and kids. I have created a web site filled with all kinds of useful cigar and pipe smoking information. I also have put together a page with many of my favorite cigar and pipe smoking links, I even have a page that outlines my personal tasting notes of my favorite cigars and pipe tobaccos.

Pipes, cigars and everything tobacco is my hobby and favorite past time. I have smoked a pipe for over 30 years and during the big cigar boom of the early 90's, got into cigar smoking. However, at the heart, I'm a "pipeman". Over the years, I've owned and smoked countless pipes. Some of my fondest memories of my father were from when he smoked a pipe and the occasional cigar. He used to puff on little Tiparillo cigars while fly fishing. He said it was to keep the bugs away, but we knew better!

Here is My Story...(it's short, really!) I have been a cigar and pipe smoker for many years. My father and I used to go fly fishing and smoke "cheap" cigars. Since those early days, I have moved on to better quality cigars and pipe tobacco. I would never smoke a $25 Fuente Fuente Opus X or a $200 Dunhill Tan Shell while standing waist deep in a fast moving trout stream. Over the years I have found a number of cigar brands and pipe tobacco blends that I really enjoy. I don't consider myself an expert in the field of cigars, pipes or tobacco, but I've smoked enough cigars and pipe tobacco to know what I like. This web site is dedicated to providing my fellow cigar and pipe smoking friends with interesting and useful information about this wonderful hobby.

I consider myself a lucky man. My lovely wife allows me to smoke in the house. However, I do have to stay in the family room. My favorite place to smoke is the deck, but living in the northeast it has its draw backs. In the winter, it's just to cold to sit outside. But in the summer, there's nothing better than an ice cold beer and a good cigar or a pipe full of nice tobacco to end the day.

Since cigar and pipe tobacco tastes are highly subjective from person to person, my favorite's may not necessarily be yours. These notes are my own personal interpretation of selected cigars and pipe tobacco blends. Stop back frequently to see additions to my list.
